CEproof Marine News
CEproof to exhibit at sanctuary cove boat show in australia CEproof is to exhibit, for the first time, at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on Australia's Gold Coast. CEproof will be demonstrating the latest version of the company's unique software, CE-Pro and be on hand to answer any regulatory compliance questions. Come and see us at stand number 786, shared with Gineico Marine. Click for a show map. Tony Castro purchases CE-Pro software One of the world's top Naval Architects, Tony Castro, visited CEproof's stand at METS in Amsterdam in November 2007 to look at CEproof award winning CE-Pro software. Impressed with its features, Tony sent a couple of his staff for a demonstration on the stand. Designers do not need to produce Technical Files and CE mark boats (the builders have to do this) but Tony Castro & his team recognised that:
Structural strength and stability are obvious areas where CE-Pro can help at the design stage. Placing engine vents a little too low can cause a boat intended for category A to find itself in category B. CE-Pro allows the designer to assess this sort of issue in just a few moments thereby saving a lot of angst at the final build inspection. CE-Pro also has less obvious benefits for the designer. Issues such as fire escapes routes are complicated for larger boats with limits on the number of people using the same routes for escape. CE-Pro ensures that features are properly considerd for compliance at design stage. See also: Tony Castro Ltd. website. For further details visit: www.seawork.com. CEproof Opens An Office in Turkey The CEproof network has increased in size as a new office opens in Pendik, Istanbul, Turkey. Alasdair Reay, Managing Director of CEproof International and Engin Sezen, Managing Director of PI-ES Shipping met at a seminar in Tusla, the ship-building heart of Turkey, where Alasdair was giving a seminar, on behalf of the EU Commission, on the topic the EU Recreational Craft Directive (RCD). Following a visit by Alasdair to the offices of PI-ES, a deal was signed for PI-ES to open a CEproof office, to be managed by Tolga Yildirim. Turkey, an applicant nation for EU membership, has recently begun implementing EU Directives and its prolific and growing manufacturing industry is now having to face-up to the new legislation before joining the Union. Where manufacturers require help, the new CEproof office will be on hand to solve problems. CEproof's marine portfolio has passed to CEproof International Ltd (CEI) and non-marine portfolio to CEproof Directives Ltd (CED). These 2 companies have been in existence for some time and run independently from CEproof Ltd: CEI as the IP owner of the unique RCD compliance software, CE-Pro. CED as, effectively, the non-marine sub-contractor to CEproof Ltd. As the portfolio of all three companies has grown, the need to establish clear operating lines has resulted in this division. The move has several benefits for the company and its clients. Firstly, there is a need for the non-marine operations to be accredited to ISO9000:2000. CED now has this accreditation. Secondly, the removal of an interface between CEproof Ltd and CED should make for improved communications for clients. The move also reunites the marine work of CEproof with the IP ownership of its RCD compliance software, CE-Pro, thereby ensuring sales and support are closely aligned. The existing chain of franchised offices around the world have realigned with the new companies and they continue to offer the same high quality service as before. The reformation comes with personnel changes at CEproof HQ: Alasdair Reay is promoted to Managing Director of CEI as Tim Rowe steps sideways to a run a new Spanish office following two recent major medical operations. David Koller, the owner of CEI, will remain on the board for a period of time and will then stand-down. Ben Jordan has also moved across from CEproof Ltd to CEI. CED will continue to be managed by Peter Terry, who will also merge his other companies, Conformity Evaluation and Testing Ltd and Access Testing Ltd into CED. Alasdair Reay joins the board of CED. The move brings a substantial amount of electrical and electronic test equipment into the ownership of CEproof which will also be available for testing by CEI to the Marine Equipment Directive. Alasdair Reay, Managing Director of CEI said of the changes: "To be working alongside someone as experienced as Peter Terry is very exciting. With his skills and the test equipment that CEproof now owns, we can now realise the one-stop CE marking service that we have always striven towards. Our clients are sure to feel the benefits". |
