Home of CE marking for the EU Machinery Directive

Advisory Service

In this role, CEproof staff will make one or more visits to the client to advise the team who have been tasked with progressing compliance with a Directive. It is not a pre-requisite of the service but CEproof finds that generally these meetings deal with compliance (legal) issues rather than technical.

TYPICAL ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION

  • When must products comply?
  • What happens to products in the supply chain when a Directive comes into force?
  • Scope and exclusions
  • Categorisation of products
  • Choice of conformity assessment modules
  • Choice of Notified Body
  • Documentation for supply of components
  • Responsibility for sub-contracted tasks

KEY BENEFITS

  • Be fully briefed about the pros and cons of your compliance options
  • Harness CEproof's knowledge of the limits of flexibility with regard to current interpretations
  • Avoid having to learn from your mistakes

  • Have confidence that you are achieving compliance efficiently

TYPICAL CLIENTS

Unless asked, CEproof does not undertake a detailed analysis of the client's product(s) for the Advisory Service. Advisory Service clients generally have the resources (particularly time) to select, interpret and assess against technical (harmonised) standards as well as to execute the lists of actions following each advisory meeting. If more help is required, the Complete Compliance Service is commended.

CEproof conducts a desk review of the client's existing documentation (technical, legal and quality assurance).

To achieve this, CEproof must undertake a series of actions, as described below. CEproof always undertakes a very thorough technical assessment of the product(s) in questions as well as dealing with the compliance issues typically discussed in the Advisory Service.
