Home of CE marking for the EU Machinery Directive

About CEproof

CEproof Ltd was founded in 1998 with the prime objective of providing comprehensive and informed services around the newly introduced EU Recreational Craft Directive. The RCD was one of the first of the EU Commission’s New & Global Approach Directives and CEproof was alongside the first pioneers struggling with the idiosyncrasies of this type of CE marking legislation. The Commission has since applied the New & Global Approach template to a range of other product Directives and CEproof's experience is being called upon to help oversee the CE marking of a range of products from pressure equipment to electronics. CEproof works for global multinationals to 2-man fabrication shops alike.

CEproof's portfolio has grown to such an extent that offices have been established in a number of locations around the world and in September 2006, CEproof headquarters in UK formally separated its marine & industrial work into two distinct companies:

The industrial company, CEproof Directives Ltd, was formed from a merger between CEproof and two other established companies: Access Testing Ltd and Conformity & Evaluation Ltd.

Key Personnel

The Managing Director of CEproof International is Alasdair Reay. Alasdair, a Naval Architect and Chartered Engineer with experience gained at Lloyds Register and ABS Group, joined the CEproof Board of Directors in July 2001. Prior to joining CEproof, Alasdair spent 4 years managing AEA Technology’s EU Directive certification service, which held UKAS accreditation and Notified Body status for a range of Directives.  Whilst with AEA Technology, Alasdair also lead an EU Commission funded project to educate the 13 Central & Eastern European applicant nations with regards to New & Global Approach Directives in general and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) in detail. Alasdair has also led several EU Commission missions on the topic of the EU Recreational Craft Directive (RCD).

The Managing Director of CEproof Directives is Peter Terry, who was the Managing Director of the 2 merging companies, Access Testing Ltd and Conformity & Evaluation Ltd. Peter, a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, brings a wealth of knowledge of machinery, EMC and instrumentation to CEproof. Having spent 12 years at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), Peter's experience has been gained in a "safety-critical" environment where risk assessment was first pioneered.

Led by Alasdair and Peter, CEproof staff around the world hold a wide range of qualifications and experience which may be called upon by CEproof clients anywhere in the word.

Mission

CEproof operates at the highest possible quality levels so that a client with paperwork from CEproof can be confident that their product liability is well and truly minimised. CEproof clients sleep easily at night! CEproof do not cut corners and do a thorough job but by using the latest IT & communication tools to maintain efficiency, CEproof's prices are surprisingly affordable. For example, CEproof has written its own software to generate compliance documentation and conduct risk assessments as quickly as possible without compromising accuracy. As a result, we very often find that CEproof's efficiency can actually reduce clients' costs. Clients often find their products enhanced following the assessment feedback from CEproof. Conformity Assessment doesn't have to be a painful thrash through red tape. With CEproof it can be an uplifting process.

CEproof maintains close links with the authorities, government departments, Trade Associations, market surveillance bodies, Classification Societies and academic institutions. Increasingly, CEproof’s views are being sought where there are difficulties to overcome.

This wide range of activities puts CEproof in a unique position and provides a sound basis for new developments.
